My grandmother, Helen Means Bickett Fiegel, spent the last 20 years of her life tracing our family's genealogy. As anyone who pursues this hobby will understand, it was immensely satisfying for her - albeit frustrating at times, and often lonely. Sadly, no one truly understood or was able to appreciate what she was working on while she was alive.I am fortunate to have inherited all of her research, and have already made quite a bit of progress on my own. I do not think, though, that I could have started from scratch, as she did. For her decades of work, I am extremely grateful. During those rushed sessions of poring through names and years looking for clues, in the contemplative consideration of details from past lives, in the transcendant experience of truly feeling connected to our past - I sometimes think she is with me.
The WWW seems almost tailor-made for the sharing of genealogical research, and it is my hope that these pages will serve as a resource for me to obtain new leads in my own work, and also serve as a forum to provide her work for the benefit of others.
